L’Oreal Extra Volume Collagen Mascara

Posted in Product Reviews on September 25th, 2009 by Kristen Jason – Comments Off on L’Oreal Extra Volume Collagen Mascara

Eyeshadows may last forever, but it’s important to always have  fresh mascara.  We really liked L’Oreals new Extra Volume Collagen Mascara. Although it didn’t do much lengthening, we got a lot of volume. This mascara works by plumping the lashes from the inside out with hydra collagen. The brush is designed to get even your smallest lashes as well. What we liked best about this mascara is that we could keep layering without having to worry about clumping.

L’Oreal Skin Genesis Pore Minimizing Skin Re-Smoother

Posted in Product Reviews on September 21st, 2009 by Kristen Jason – Comments Off on L’Oreal Skin Genesis Pore Minimizing Skin Re-Smoother

For years there has not been a comparable product to Estee Lauder’s best-seller, Idealist Pore Minimizing Skin Refinisher, which retails for around $46.50. So we applaud L’Oreal for coming out with a product that’s just as effective, but is available in local drugstores.

Selling at around $19.99, the Skin Genesis Pore Minimizing Skin Re-Smoother is one of the few skin care products that we’ve seen that gives instant results. Unlike many of the all natural organic products that are being launched today, L’Oreal has a more scientific approach for the Skin Genesis line. However, all the formulas are dermatologist tested to be safe and gentle.

To start with, even the packaging is advanced. Pore Minimizing Skin Re-Smoother has a unique airless pump, which protects the formula. It also doesn’t hurt that the tube is really neat looking! This product claims to tighten pores and retexturize skin, and it actually delivers. After one application, our pores looked smaller and our skin was softer.

The active ingredients are pro-xylane and hyaluronic acid (used by dermatologists for wrinkles). This product is to be used daily, underneath moisturizer. This formula absorbs in the skin very rapidly, and we found that we could not use it without moisturizer. It’s also very lightweight, so we didn’t feel like we had a lot of product on our skin.

L’Oreal EverPure Sulfate-Free Color Care System

Posted in Product Reviews on April 16th, 2009 by Kristen Jason – Comments Off on L’Oreal EverPure Sulfate-Free Color Care System

In January of this year, L’Oreal released a line of sulfate-free hair care products for color-treated hair. There are three systems to choose from: Moisture, Smooth, and Volume.  If you didn’t already know, sulfates are the detergents that clean your hair in shampoos. Unfortunately, they can strip and dull hair, which is an even bigger problem for women who dye their hair.

We tried the L’Oreal EverPure Sulfate-Free Color Care System from the Moisture line, which includes the shampoo, conditioner, and deep restorative masque (named one of Marie Claire Magazine’s 25 Best Beauty Products of the Year for 2009). The system doesn’t contain salts or sulfates that wash away color. Instead, the system uses natural surfactants (gives products the ability to remove dirt when dissolved in water) and natural botanicals.

This system was completely the opposite of what we expected. Since the products don’t contain the sulfates that are in our favorite shampoos, we expected less lather than usual, less volume, and perhaps more product build up left behind. But the shampoo actually had a great lather, and we got a salon worthy clean. Most products for color-treated hair make you sacrifice volume for protecting your hair color. But even after flat-ironing, we had voluminous, light weight hair; we can’t wait to try their Volume products. The scent of this product is soft and subtle; it smells of rosemary, juniper, and mint.

Most hair sunscreen products only block UVB rays, but this system has both UVA and UVB filters so you also have better protection from the sun. After weeks of use, our hair color is still bright and shiny. We would recommend this product for anyone who wants volume, whether or not they color their hair. And as if we didn’t have enough reasons to continue buying this product, L’Oreal created EverPure without testing on animals or using animal by products.
