Revlon Beyond Natural Smoothing Primer

Posted in Product Reviews on July 9th, 2009 by Kristen Jason – Be the first to comment

In the summer’s hot weather, your oil glands go into overdrive, dissolving foundation way before you get home. To keep your foundation in place, we recommend Revlon’s Beyond Natural Smoothing Primer. Put it on after your moisturizer and before your foundation. The result is an all day flawless look. This product is great for women with oily skin as well women who want anti aging benefits. The gel primer minimizes the appearance of pores AND wrinkles. We thought our skin looked less oily than normal at the end of the day and our foundation was still intact. The fragrance is pleasant but light.

Obvious makeup has no place poolside or at the beach. For women that HAVE to wear something, there is Revlon’s Beyond Natural Defining Eye Pencil. These soft pencils are very soft and easy to blend. If you’re into bronzer you’ll really like Shade 610 Brown. It’s a light bronze color that goes very well with neutral makeup.

Good news for makeup artists who love free products! Elle Magazine and CoverGirl Cosmetics have collaborated to host the Beauty Guru Challenge where makeup artists can win hundreds of dollars of CoverGirl cosmetics. This contest will run from June 15, 2009 to July 2, 2010 and has a weekly and annual drawing.

How does it work? Go to http://videostar.elle.com and check out the monthly challenge. This month’s challenge is to create an Old Hollywood Glamour look inspired by the red carpet. You upload a video demonstrating how you get the look using at least 50% CoverGirl products onto the site. Your video will post on the site, and every time someone looks at your video it is counted as a vote. Tip: The file size has to be 100MB or less and music, photographs, and artwork in your video must be yours or you have to receive official permission to include it. Qualified judges will look at the number of votes, clarity of instruction, and the final look to select a winner every week.

If you’re the lucky weekly winner you win the Elle Video Star title $250 worth of free CoverGirl products! On July 9, 2010, an annual grand prize winner will be selected from all of the Elle Video Star winners. Not only is the grand prize winner featured on the site, they will also get $3,000 worth of beauty products. Good luck!

Revlon ColorStay Mineral Lipglaze

Posted in Product Reviews on July 6th, 2009 by Kristen Jason – Be the first to comment

Everyone likes the way lipgloss looks, but it fades fast. Revlon’s first longwearing lipgloss, ColorStay Mineral Lipglaze, lasts for up to 8 hours. We tried it out and found that it didn’t wear off during the day, even after a lunch. More importantly, it didn’t strip our lips of moisture like typical long wearing formulas tend to.

The gloss stays on for so long because of its mineral complex, which seals the formula on your lips. Our favorite shade is Infinite Rose, which goes on sheer and has a nice grapefruit smell to it.

Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Trio

Posted in Product Reviews on June 29th, 2009 by Kristen Jason – Be the first to comment

Maybelline tends to always stay current on color trends. Their Ivy League trio of shadow is right on time with summer green shades. The light shade goes on the lid, the medium shade in the crease, and the light color for the brow bone or the inner corner of the eye. Instructions are printed on the shadows, making work to cocktail makeup application easy.

These are colors are high in pigment, so what you see is what you get. This particular trio is not for you if you like subtle color. They also have a somewhat metallic finish that’s very flattering. Not sure what palette to get? Try the Maybelline Color Advisor at http://www.maybelline.com/mca/index.aspx to see the best colors for you.

Wetnwild MegaVolume Thickening Mascara

Posted in Product Reviews on June 25th, 2009 by Kristen Jason – Be the first to comment

Thick lashes without clumping? It IS possible! Wetnwild’s MegaVolume Thickening Mascara thickens your eyelashes, but the formula itself is not thick and goopy at all. The brush design separates your lashes and reaches even the tiny ones at the corners so you don’t have to keep applying. This product does not give dramatic effect, but its natural finish and eyelash conditioners make it ideal for everyday wear. We also loved that the price is easy on the wallet as well.

WetnWild BeautyBenefits Mint Infusions Lip Tint

Posted in Product Reviews on June 16th, 2009 by Kristen Jason – Be the first to comment

When you pack for your summer vacation, you should bring sunblock for your skin AND your lips. WetnWild BeautyBenefits Mint Infusions Lip Tint has an SPF of 15, and antioxidants to protect your lips. A welcome bonus was its peppermint oil ingredient, which freshens breath and gives a cooling sensation. The colors may seem dark in the packaging, but this gloss is really a tinted balm with extreme shine. If you like more color, try a dab on top of your lipstick.

Although we all like the benefits of mascara that can persevere through tears and rain, we are often left with dry and brittle lashes. WetnWild’s H20 Waterproof Mascara is waterproof without the damage. It contains vitamin E and conditioners so your lashes are left soft and nourished. It’s also safe for contact lens wearers. Now we feel confident wearing makeup to the beach and the gym.

WetnWild Speedgloss Energizing Lip Shine

Posted in Product Reviews on May 28th, 2009 by Kristen Jason – Be the first to comment

Did you know that you should throw lip gloss out after 9 months? Chances are, you have some tubes in your makeup bag that are way past the point of expiration. We refreshed our own lip gloss supply with WetnWild Speedgloss Energizing Lip Shine. There is no wand to mess around with, or pot to stick your finger in, you just simply squeeze the tube and apply the gloss like lipstick.

The texture is pleasantly smooth, no stickiness. Speedgloss also has a lot of shimmer, so it has intense shine. The ingredients contain Gingko Bilboa, Ginseng, Guarana, Acai, Vitamin E, and peppermint. Antioxidants protect your lips from aging. Our favorite shade was Frenzied, it’s difficult to find a flattering shade of gold gloss and this is it!

If you like false eyelashes then you will love CoverGirl Lashblast Volume Blasting Mascara. It gives the look of dramatic eyelashes in just one coat. We found that we didn’t have to use multiple layers to get the volume we wanted. Another plus is that it removes easily with soap and water so you don’t have spend your evenings removing your eye makeup. It’s hypoallergenic so contact lens wearers can join in the fun too.
